Our library has positioned itself in the present as far as technology is concerned. I knew it was time for me to come to terms with my lack of tech saavy when I found my local library had a website aaaaaand it was interactive. Hoping books never become a thing of the past, I ventured down to renew my library card only to be told that it was an outdated relic and was issued a brand new one along with a matching one for my keyring (they must’ve had people like me in mind when they decided on that option…I always had a hard time keeping up with my library card).
My first book, even with an extension, didn’t get read. It may have been the time I opted to check it out…Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year’s…I’m almost sure that’s the reason. Today, I checked out another book. The librarian asked, “Just the one?”. “Yes. Just the one. Baby steps, eh?”, I replied. She got a chuckle out of that but I was so serious. I’ve never been a reader. I fall asleep. There may have been a handful of books that have held my attention long enough for me to read from start to finish. I can remember the titles of even less; My Side of the Mountain, Dear Lovey Hart, I Am Desperate, The Flame and The Flower, The Girl Who Cried Flowers. I’ve tried a gazillion times with as many different books of a variety of subjects to be an avid reader…I’ll keep trying. The worst thing that could happen is I’ll get more sleep…that can’t be a bad thing.
